Additionally, I'm involved with planning a benefit for my cousin. We have an actual event planner (like, it's her job to organize these things) but she sucks. All she did was create a facebook page, and the problem is everyone keeps using it to communicate planning things with each other. For instance, there's a post on there right now that that says we still haven't figured out where to get things (tickets, tshirts, etc). Are you kidding? People are going to come to this page and be like, uhhhh. She uploaded the posters and all the donation letters... AS IMAGES. I don't know how much you know about FB, but it basically converts images to a 4x6inch photo. You can't print posters and letters from there.
Luckily, last night I was able to get the original pdfs (oh, yeah, the POSTER was a regular 8.5x11 inch pdf. Not actually a poster-sized image. I fixed that.) and I created a website. Thank you weebly for letting me put Team J5 together in just a few hours. I used my template from the Siren Call site and just made some tweaks, mostly to the navigation bar. Little tidbit, there's a picture of me on one of those pages. It's not easy to find, but it's there!
In other news, I'm working to help support my friend's band (yes, another friend in a band) in their road to playing Hard Rock Live in Rome! I don't yet know who they'll get to open for if they win, but several years back another friend's band won the contest to play Hard Rock Live London, and opened for Sir Paul McCartney. So, Dirty Smile needs this. I would love your support as well! You can vote here for Dirty Smile.
I've been thinking about creating a separate Larcombe page for Nate and Gabe, just because Nate is not an Urban. When I first made this site I didn't even include them. It was a complete afterthought when I finally did.
- Update this to, I DID create one. Here.
In employment news, I have an interview Wednesday at SNAP. I think that would be an awesome job, given my passion for assistance programs. I'd love to work for such a great thing. But, in the last few interviews I've been on for county jobs, they are disorganized as hell, and I'd go crazy working in such an environment. I'm amazed anything gets done. The other possible downside is that it's pretty much a lateral move, income-wise.
But on top of that, another opportunity has popped up that will take me back into the the mortgage processing world. The job title is receptionist, but the description is receptionist plus mortgage processor plus loan closer. There's the basic answering the phone, handling walk-ins, but then there's preparing lien releases, calculating loan payments... it's crazy.
Let's just hope my resume speaks loudly to them. The submissions are through a website, so I don't have any specific contact information. The pay rate is $4 more than my highest paying job, and $7 more than I'm making now. I could finally get back to where I was financially two years ago. I can't even tell you, there are few things worse than just watching your savings dwindle away and knowing there's hardly anything you can do about it. You know you're up shit's creek when you start considering hitting your 401k for gas money. For the past two years I've been getting by but I am not comfortable. I need something better.
