Using basic algebra, I created a short equation. 56 pop days equals 365 real life days, and if you know the pop day you're looking for, you are solving for the real day number.
It goes: (PopDayNumber * 365) / 56 = RealDayNumber
For example, I want to find the real life equivalent of Pop Day 19.
My formula would be (19 * 365)/56
6935/56 = 123.839
Rounded to the whole, it's 124. Using that number, I look at this calendar, and as you'll see by the highlighted section below, the 124th day of the year is May 4. Pop day 19 = May 4
There are a few exceptions. Day 1 would be January 7 using this formula, but of course we want that to be January 1, so I had to make some adjustments. Pop days 1-5 are slightly adjusted and don't follow the formula exactly.
If you're asking yourself if I'm really that much of a dork, the answer is yes. As you know, I'm a writer. When writing, I like to know as much about the environment in which my characters live as I can. If that means having as many pictures as possible and a floor plan for their house or apartment, I'll search for that. If it means having an idea of the time they live in, I will. This way, if a couple starts dating on Day 6, and on day 42 they are asked how long they've been together, I can glance at the chart and see that Day 6 to Day 42 is February 8 to October 1, they've been together about 8 months. That's better than 5 weeks, right? It always amused me that this game refers to measurements in days, weeks, and years, but not months.
